IBIZA TRAIL MARATHON 2020 REGULATIONS


Race organisers: CLUB IBIZA TRAIL

On Sunday 18 October, the 14th Ibiza Trail Marathon will take place, departing from and finishing at Passeig de Ses Fonts in Sant Antoni de Portmany. The Ibiza Trail Marathon is a race for adults aged over 18 only. Children are not permitted to take part in the race. To take part in the Trail Marathon (42 km) you must wear a windbreaker garment and a fully-charged mobile phone. The compulsory equipment will be checked at the access to the starting chutes.

The Marathon Trail starts at 8 am.

The Medium Trail starts at 9 am.

The Light Trail starts at 9.30 am

Finish Line: In Passeig de Ses Fonts in Sant Antoni

Route: Signposted mountain route.

The organisers will send a team to complete the route one hour before the start of the race to check that everything is in perfect condition. A team of sweepers will travel behind the race to remove all the signage.

Time Limit:

The maximum time in which participants are allowed to complete the 42 km race is 8 hours and all competitors in the 21k and 10k races are expected to cross the finish line before 4 pm. If any competitor overruns these times, they will be automatically disqualified and will be out of the race. After this deadline, all the safety apparatus will be dismantled by the organisers.

In the 42 km race, there is a cut-off point at the 5th Refreshment station around kilometre 25.5 km at 1.30 pm. Any runner who has not reached this point by this time will be disqualified and will be out of the race.

Compulsory equipment:

Fully-charged mobile phone and windbreaker (for the 42 km IBIZA TRAIL)

Refreshments:

There will be refreshment stations and control points at kilometres 5, 10, 15, 20, 25.5, 30, 35 and 40 approximately.

Control Points:

There will be control points set up by the organisers along the route through which the runners must pass.

Organization staff will be manning each CP checking the runners as they pass, taking note of their race number and of any irregularities they may observe.

Safety:

The organisers will arrange for experts to be present at certain points along the route and at the control points to ensure the safety of the competitors.

Abandoning the Race:

If any participant wishes to abandon the race they must notify the organisers as soon as possible.

Participants may only abandon the race at the refreshment stations indicated in the programme by the organisers. Vehicles will be available in these areas to evacuate the competitors who abandon the race.

Warnings:

Only the vehicles provided by the organization will be permitted to follow the race, and motorbikes, bicycles and any other vehicle will not be allowed to follow the runners.

Any complaints must be sent in writing to the Arbitrating Judge, enclosing 100 euros, no later than 30 minutes after the provisional Classifications are called.

All registered competitors must agree to the race regulations and those of the Spanish Royal Athletics Federation in order to compete in road races and must pledge to comply with them.

The organisers shall not be held responsible for any accidents or injuries that the competitors may suffer or cause.

 The organization has a civil liability insurance policy in line with current legislation.

All competitors shall accept without reservation the current regulations when they register.

After registering for the race, no money will be reimbursed unless the race is cancelled at the decision of the organisers and/or due to causes beyond their control.

Headphones, and walking sticks not protected with a rubber point are not permitted.

When registering for the race, the Ibiza Trail Marathon participants shall grant their consent to Ibiza Eventos CB for the marketing and use of the reproductions of photographs, the broadcasting of videos, the publication of classifications, etc. by means of any device (television, internet, graphic advertising,...), solely for sporting or promotional purposes.

The organisers shall not liable for any damages deriving from physical, moral and/or material injury affecting the participants and/or spectators during the race.

Categories:

A category is considered to be constituted when 3 or more competitors have registered in this category. If not, the organisers may cancel the category and assign any competitors registered in it to other categories. No runners in categories below the Junior category may compete in the MEDIUM TRAIL or TRAIL races.

  •   Male Veterans A Top Three (aged 35-44)

  •   Female Veterans A Top Three (aged 35-44)
  •   Female Veterans B Top Three (aged 35-44)
  •   Female Veterans C Top Three (aged 55 or older)
  •   Male Overall Top Three
  •   Female Overall Top Three

Trophies: A trophy is awarded to the top three in each category. Trophies cannot be accumulated. The organisers have also created a special category for the three distances – 10, 21 and 42 km – for the top three male and female competitors who are resident on Ibiza. Local category

CASH PRIZES FOR 42 KM TRAIL (MALE AND FEMALE):

  •   Winner: €500
  •   Second place: €300
  •   Third place: €200

Cloakroom service: A cloakroom service is provided at the start and finish lines where the runners can store their belongings. You will need to show your competitor number when you collect your belongings.

Race monitoring: The race will be monitored by a chip placed in the runners’ shoes. The chip must be collected 1 day before the race, together your competitor number and must be returned after completing the race.

 Infringements and Disqualifications: Several cases are defined.

 

Light sanctions:

A 30-minute sanction will be applied to competitors:

- Who do not wear the official competitor number.

- Who alter or cover up the advertisement.

- Pass the finishing line without their number.

- Who do not follow the judges’ or organisation staff instructions.

- Who set off before the starting pistol.

Very serious sanctions:

Competitors will be disqualified who:

- Do not wear all the compulsory equipment

- Do not complete the entire route.

- Wear another competitor’s number.

- Throw rubbish away outside the designated areas (refreshment zones and up to 10 metres beyond these zones) and who disturb the natural surroundings.

- Do not respect the regulations and rules of camaraderie.

- Is inconsiderate or rude to members of the organisation or to other participants.

- Finish the race after 8 hours.

- Do not offer to help another runner who has had an accident.

- Alters the route signposting.

- Loses the stopwatch chip.

- Use of headphones

- Use of sticks without a rubber tip.

Disqualified competitors automatically lose their right to win a trophy.

First-aid: A doctor will be on hand to provide this service. Any competitors who have physical or breathing difficulties, allergies, etc. and require special needs, should notify the organisers before the competition and make it known on the back of their competition number.

Race insurance: All officially registered participants will be covered by an insurance policy taken out by organisation that will cover any accidents that are directly caused by the race, but never as a result of a underlying illness or condition, injury or due to recklessness, negligence, a failure to comply with rules and provisions of the Regulations, etc., nor those that occur while travelling to and from the place where the race takes place.

Race safety: The local Sant Antoni police, Guardia Civil and Civil Protection and the Organisers are responsible for ensuring the maximum safety of the race, and the participants must abide by all the instructions they receive from the staff in charge of the race safety.

Ambulance service: There will be an ambulance service at the start and finishing lines and at an intermediate point designated by the organisers.

Collection of numbers and chips: The numbers will be given out and a briefing will be held on Saturday 17 October from 6 pm till 8 pm in the Expo area that will be set up in Passeig de Ses Fonts de Sant Antoni de Portmany.
